General Rules and Judging Criteria

Speech Contest

General rules:

• The contestants that allowed to register and compete are those who were born after January, 1st 1997
• A school available to submit maximum two contestants.
• The theme for speech:

          - Change, challenge, and opportunity
          - A great young leader
          - Lead or led?
          - Fighting spirit for young leader

• Participants must submit a softcopy of the speech to hilda_rahmani@rocketmail.com before April 3rd , 2014
• All participants are free to wear anything during the competition (polite clothes)
• Participants must submit:

          - 2 sheet of (3x4) photo
          - Copy of student card

• Participants are given 6-8 minutes to perform their speech
• Participants are not allowed to bring the text during a speech.
• Time Keepers will raise a yellow flag as a sign that the time is one minute left. Then the red flag is to signal that the time is over.
• There will be a score reduction if participants hit the limit and the performance is less than 4 minutes.
• Participants should prepare materials for the performance themselves
• Participants are expected to use English during performance
• Each school brings four supporters, if not they have to pay 5000 rupiahs for one supporter. If participant brings four supporters , they don’t have to pay.

Judging Criteria

•  Content  (1 - 20 points)
•  Intonation (1 - 20 points)
•  Pronounciation (1 – 30 points)
•  Fluency ( 1 – 30 points)
•  Q & A point ( 1 - 30 points)
•  Performance (1-20 points)

                  Total Score : 150 points

News Casting

General rules:

• A school is available to send maximum two contestants.
• All participants should wear formal suit during the competition.
• The topics for news casting:

         - Young Leader vs. Old Leader

         - A Great Young Leader

         - Young Pioneer

         - Young Heroes

• Participants are given 5 minutes to read the news.
• There will be a reduction in the score if the performance is less than 4 minutes .
• Time keepers will raise a yellow flag to give sign that the remaining time to perform is one minute. And a red flag to give sign that the time is over.
• Participants are allowed to read the text.
• Disobedience of rules will decrease the total scores.
• Judges’ decision is final and can not be changed.

Judging Criteria

• Content ( 1 – 20 points)

          Matery of news are presentated by the participant, based on conformity with the chosen 
          topic, completeness of news elements ( 5 W + 1 H).

• Fluency ( 1 – 30 points)
• Intonation & Expression ( 1 – 30 points)

          High, low, accentuation, and face expression on certain words.

• Pronounciation ( 1 - 20 points)
• Voice (1 - 20 points)

          Volume and clearness of participant’s voice.

• Performance (1 - 10 points)

          Based on confidence, costume, and the other appeareance from participants totally.

                    Total Score  :  130 points

English Poster
General rules:

• A School is available  to send maximum two contestants
• Participants are not allowed to make the poster before the event
• Topics for English poster:

           - Beyond on limits
           - Aint’ no stoppin’ us now
           - Do great things
           - Don’t stop believing
           - Break the barrier

• Participants should prepare the materials for themselves
• Participants must draw on A3 paper which will be provided by the committee (portrait/landscape)
• Poster must be colored
• Poster material must be in English
• Participants are not allowed to copy or imitate any references
• Participants are given 3.5 hours to draw poster (including coloring)
• Participants should keep the cleanliness of school environment
• Disobedience of the rules will decrease the total score
• Judges’ decision is final and can not be changed 

Judging Criteria

•  Creativity (1 - 40 point)
•  Originality (1 - 30 point)
•  Relevance to the theme (1 - 30 point)
• Color composition (1 - 20 point)

                  Total point = 120 points.
